On 15 July 2026, the Organization for Strategic Health Interventions (OSHI) presented the results of its Early Identification and Management of Eye Conditions Project in Tunduma Town Council, Songwe Region, during a high-level meeting with the Ministry of Health in Dodoma. Implemented from April 2025 to April 2026 with support from Seva Foundation and Ulverscroft Foundation, the project successfully integrated pediatric eye care into routine RCH services, screened 6,110 children, and facilitated 34 life-changing eye surgeries. The initiative strengthened the capacity of health workers and community systems while improving access to essential eye care services for children.

Following the strong results, OSHI proposed scaling up the intervention to Ileje District as part of the next phase, reinforcing its commitment to preventing childhood blindness in Tanzania.
